Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) is one of two techniques used to harvest donor hair. During an FUE each follicular unit is harvested in a randomized pattern from the scalp using a small circular punch . FUE can be done using our ARTAS® Robot or with one of our high level manually devices. During your consultation, Dr. Gross will recommend which type of hair restoration procedure is right for you.

Strip Excision (SE) is a surgical hair transplant technique wherein the grafts used for the procedure are harvested in a linear strip taken from the donor area. This represents the “Gold Standard” for obtaining donors’ hair. The harvested tissue is then dissected under a microscope to create the individual follicular units. Strip excisions can be more gentle to the donor hair while maintaining donor density.

Surgical hair restoration is not the only option for individuals seeking a fuller head of hair.
